Just in: Wiper Confirms Kalonzo Is Still in The Race For Presidency, Makes Major Announcement

The Wiper Party has assured its followers that its candidate for president in August, Kalonzo Musyoka, is still in the race despite rumors that he has been disqualified for noncompliance.

The party refuted rumors that Kalonzo had been disqualified from running for the top seat in the next General Election due to failing to provide the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) with electronic signatures.

"The National Elections Board (NEB) wishes to certify that we have complied with this criterion as we have ALREADY SUBMITTED the soft copy of our candidate's supporters in Excel format on 28/5/22, which is well before the 29/5/22 today, deadline set by the IEBC," Wiper stated in a statement.

On Saturday, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced the 16 presidential candidates who would advance to the next phase of nominations, which begins today.

Kalonzo, who selected Andrew Sunkuli as his running mate, was omitted off the list despite submitting his paperwork to the electoral commission alongside the signatures of registered voters.

However, Wiper NEB Chair Agatha Solitei refuted charges that Kalonzo was excluded from the contest as a distortion of the truth.

"His Excellency's paperwork were submitted to the IEBC for 33 counties (instead of the requisite 24 counties) on 25/5/22 in both hard and soft copy, as specified by the IEBC in their letter dated 19/5/22. Upon receiving these documents on May 25, 2022, the IEBC requested that we convert the electronic data we had submitted to an Excel format by no later than May 29, 2022. This requirement was further clarified by the IEBC in a letter dated 28 May 2022, which stated that the WDM presidential candidate's electronic signatures must be submitted by 9 a.m. on 29 May 2022," the statement further added.
