All politicians from Mombasa, regardless of their political affiliation, suspended their activities in honour of staff attached to Mvita MP Abdulswammad Mohammed. After much deliberations, all Coastal leaders agreed with one voice to agreed to suspend all their activities beginning Sunday, November 14 to Monday, November 15, as a show of solidarity with the MP and to mourn with the families of the deceased.
United in grief, Politician Suleiman Shahbal, who is eyeing for Mombasa gubernatorial seat alongside Nassir, also attended the funeral service. “We have cancelled all our political activities today and tomorrow as well in honour of those who perished," Shahbal told the press.
The four employees died in a road accident in Mpeketoni, Lamu County on Saturday, November 13. Nassir, who was heartbroken from the incident, broke down during the service that took place at Masjid Shibu Mosque.
