President Uhuru Kenyatta today late afternoon arrived at the Parliament buildings to deliver his 8th State of the Nation address. In presence was also the Deputy President Dr. William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and among many other high level dignitaries.
President Uhuru's speech was however too long to a point of trying to shorten it.
"I'm am trying to shorten this speech. I'm also tired of reading it," the President said.
Some of the key issues the President has delivered includes;
According to President Uhuru, Kenya has so far managed to vaccinate 7.1 million Kenyan's against the targeted 10 million by December. This is one of his government effort's to ensure that every Kenyan gets vaccinated.
According to Uhuru's speech, Kenya now ranks position 6 of the wealthiest nations in Africa. This is a rise from position 12 in 2013. The rank puts Nigeria as position one, Egypt (2), South Africa (3), Algeria (4) and Morocco position (5).
Also, according to President Uhuru, the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) which by then was taking 4 years to meet the needs of the famers now takes 72 hours to process the famers payments. In addition KMC outlets across the country have been resuscitated to collect Ksh. 1 million daily amount which is different and higher than Before. Previously, the outlets were collecting Ksh. 8,000 per day.
Also, according to President Uhuru, Nakuru town will now join Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu as cities on 1st December, 2021, which is tomorrow etc.
