Didmus Barasa has thrown a dig to Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga. He has alleged that he is more popular than Raila Odinga in Western region. This was after he contrasted two political rallies. In one of the rallies, Didmus Barasa alleged that he was addressing residents of Tongaren Constituency. In the second rally, Raila is in the same region according to Barasa.
Barasa has shown scarce crowds in Raila's rally compared to his rally. He attributed that to Ruto's influence in the region. The Kimilili MP said that Bungoma county has already decided that they will vote for William Ruto.
Western region has become a battleground for Kenya Kwanza and Azimio coalitions. The region has always been Raila's stronghold but now Ruto has a bargain in the region. Ruto's popularity in the region was boosted by entry of Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi to Kenya Kwanza coalition. Raila Odinga is also popular in the region and is being supported by stalwarts like Eugene Wamalwa and Wycliffe Oparanya.
