How 1.59 Billion Demanded By Rigathi Gachagua After Election Were To Be Used For Explained

For sometime now the treasury from the previous administration led by Ukur Yatani and the current government appears to be in bad terms as they continue exposing each other on matters which happened immediately and after the election. This was after deputy president Rigathi Gachagua kept saying they found 93 million only in government cofers.

The DP exposed that Yatani released 16 billion Kenyan shillings to the previous legime without the consent of the parliament and the money was meant to be stolen. Yatani on the other hand replied saying it was not against the constitution since the law allowed him to release money and have parliament consent not later than two months after.

He also asked how the DP would say he released the money illegally and at the same time two days after supreme court upheld their win he sent him a letter demanding him to release 1.59 billion to his office without parliamentary approval. This raised mixed reactions wondering what was the use of the 1.59 billion Rigathi wanted.

The money was to be used in the following activities.

1. Deputy president motor vehicles- 300 million.

2. Domestic travel- 140 million.

3. State hospitality cost- 330 million.

4. Refurbishing of buildings- 50 million.

5. Purchasing of households and internal fittings- 50 million.

6. Maintenance cost for vehicles- 70 million.

7. Foreign travel- 40 million.

8. Other operating expenses- 500 million.
