Why Rigathi Gachagua and Mike Sonko may not be in the ballot in the upcoming elections

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) have been urged not to clear aspirants with questionable integrity.

Coast Cival Society groups have urged IEBC not to clear leaders with pending graft cases that are aspiring to vie in the upcoming August elections.

Haki Africa Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hussein Khalid said IEBC, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) have a chance to prove to Kenyans that they can stop corruption by blocking aspirants with graft cases from vying.

He also urged IEBC to warn politicians who are proliferating violence and hatred ahead of the coming August elections and anyone found with the offence should face the law.

Some of the top aspirants with pending graft cases are former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko who is aspiring to be the next Mombasa Gpovernor and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, DP Ruto’s running mate.

If IEBC, DPP AND EACC takes this issue into account it will mean that DP William Ruto will have to drop Gachagua and name another running mate.
