Our goal is to win, and we want to reassure our supporters of this: ODM's Moitalel Ole Kenta

Using "major irregularities," as his reason, former candidate for governor of Narok Moitalel Ole Kenta has filed a lawsuit to contest Mr. Patrick Ntutu's victory on August 9.

With a team of attorneys, Mr. Kenta appeared before the Narok High Court and claimed to have a "watertight" case against his former rival, who prevailed by a narrow margin of fewer than 10,000 votes.

In the fiercely contested race, Mr. Ntutu of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) defeated Mr. Kenta (ODM) with 158,100 votes to the latter's 148,270.

After submitting his petition, Mr. Kenta spoke to the media outside the court and claimed to have enough proof to overturn Mr. Ntutu's victory.

Speaking for the first time since losing his bid, Mr. Kenta assured his followers that he would win.

"Our goal is to win, and we want to reassure our supporters of this. We'll make sure those who supported us are given their due, "added said.

He asserted that there was a favorite candidate for governor among the IEBC and other unidentified contenders.

Additionally, he claimed that Sidney Namulungu, the county's returning officer, ignored him when his team expressed concerns about potential rigging.

"One Dr. Namulungu refused to listen to us when we voiced our concerns that something was wrong and instead dared us to file a lawsuit. Now that we're in court, "Added he.

With his old running companion William Oltetia, Mr. Kenta expressed confidence in his legal team, claiming that they would grant him his "stolen" victory.

We have tremendous proof, therefore I have faith that my attorneys will establish our case, he added.

The results of the governor's race had to be postponed for two days due to political unrest in the area. For reasons of safety, the announcement was moved to the national tallying facility in the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi.
