The Kenya kwanza coalition party that is led by the Deputy President William Ruto who is also their presidential candidate, is today expected to attend the signing of the Kenya kwanza women charter. The conference will be held at Nyayo stadium. As this happens, the UDA party has urged all media houses only to deploy female journalist as a way of celebrating the role of women in the country.
"We encourage your media house/online news blog to deploy an all women crew as we seek to celebrate and highlight the important roles played by women in all sectors," said UDA communication party director Wanjohi Githae.
Just a few days ago the DP launched the UDA women's league on sunday, which is a move the DP is trying to counter the wave created by Martha Karua's appointment as Raila Odinga's running mate. Odinga's move has created more popularity based on Infotrak statistics which shows him slightly above the DP. During the launch, Ruto said that his party supports women to be ahead of the upcoming election. He even promised that in his government 50% of the cabinet slot will be given to women if elected President.
"UDA is a women's party. It has the largest representation of women across the board. All opinion polls indicate UDA is the most popular party in Kenya and has a record majority of women," Ruto said.
He also supported the statement that what a man can do, a woman can do better and the more they keep women out of leadership position the more they lose.
