Acting Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu Mwenda is now set to be sworn in as the governor of Nairobi city county on Tuesday, November 16,at the Kenyatta International Conference Center.
After months of waiting Kananu will take an oath to serve as the third governor of Nairobi city county.
A gazette Notice issued by Jairus Musamba, the chairperson of the committee on assumption of office of the county governor, indicated that Kananu will be sworn in at the Kicc COMESA grounds from 10am.
Kananu's swearing in comes after the court dismissed an appeal by former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko seeking to stop Kananu from being sworn in as Nairobi governor.
Supreme Court judges noted that the application by the former governor is not mature and does not meet the threshold of the Constitution.
The former Nairobi governor wanted the supreme Court to stop the swearing in of Kananu as Nairobi governor pending hearing and determination of his appeal.
