Reactions As Jubilee Party Appoints Ngugi to Take Over from The Late Nominated Senator Prengei

The Jubilee Party Secretary General on Thursday September 23, 2021 has confirmed the appointment of Isaac Ngugi from Nyandarua County to take over from the late nominated Senator Victor Prengei.

The late Senator Victor Prengei, from Nakuru County was nominated to represent the marginalized Ogiek community. The community is found in Molo and Njoro sub-counties in Nakuru.

Senator Victor Prengei's life came to an abrupt end when he involved in a very tragic road accident along Nakuru-Nairobi Highway in the month of August.

During his burial ceremony at Molo Sub-county, the Ogiek community requested the Jubilee Party to reconsider the person who would replace Senator Prengei from the community.

The Thursday's announcement by the Party's Secretary General to appoint Isaac Ngugi to represent the minority and marginalized communities has sparked off mixed reactions. Some have wondered if Nyandarua County is one of the marginalized areas in Kenya. To others, it was not acceptable for a person from another community to be nominated to represent the marginalized community. Here are some reactions (screenshots).
