Former Langata constituency representative and lawmaker Raila Amolo Odinga presided over Kenya as its prime minister from 2008 to 2013. According to Wikipedia, he has served as the leader of the opposition in Kenya since 2013. He is the party's head in Kenya's Azimio la Umoja-One Coalition.
What Raila Says
Raila says that Kenyans should brace for tougher economic times that will increase the cost of living due to the government's takeover of the importation role of basic commodities such as agricultural products from the private sector. The opposition leader who toured Githurai and other Azimio leaders faulted president William Ruto’s assertion that the independent electoral and boundaries commission servers were accessible during the transmission of the 2022 presidential elections results at the Bomas of Kenya.
He also said that the cost of living should be reduced and electoral reforms implemented. He warned of tougher economic times ahead due to what he referred to as Ruto’s administration's new role of importing basic commodities, which locks out the private sector from balancing the food chain through food imports.
To quote him verbatim, he said, "The government has also become an importer of commodities from outside the country." Ati wanasema eti bei itarudi chini lakini hapana."
The opposition led by Raila is demanding the reintroduction of food and oil subsidies, which the previous administration used to cushion Kenyans against internal and external economic pressure.
Azimio la Umoja announced that it would only relent on its mass action plans if prices of basic commodities drop in the next twelve days.
Raila demanded the IEBC servers be opened and audited by an independent firm, faulting President William Ruto’s assertion that the electoral body servers were accessible to all stakeholders during the transmission of presidential results to the bomas of Kenya.
