The day for by-elections is finally with us. Kenyans from various regions in the country are exercising their democratic rights as required by the constitution; to choose their leaders. According to IEBC Kenya, as communicated on social media, the voting has already started.
The race, which has attracted a stiff competition between top politicians supporting their candidates at the grassroots is being used as the measure of political influence and a prediction of 2022 election outcome.
Commenting on the same, political scientist, Professor Herman Manyora has now called out the IEBC to try and ensure no time wastage. According to him, today's elections consists of small amounts of votes. For this reason, he has requested the IEBC to use a maximum of 2 hours to complete the tallying and Announcing of results after the closing of voting.
"I hope IEBC will save us the shame of them taking ages to count, tally and announce results in a by election with just a handful of voters. This exercise should be completed in a maximum of two hours after close of voting. @tv47ke @citizentvkenya @KTNNewsKE @IEBCKenya @ntvkenya" Said Herman Manyora
