Plans To Relocate Kakamega County Headquarters from the current location to Lurambi Sub-county has gained momentum after Governor Fernandes Barasa toured the parcels of land intended to be used.
The governor in the company of a number of County officials toured the parcels which are also expected to accommodate president William Ruto's affordable housing project.

Governor Barasa revealed that the relocation of the county Headquarters will enable residents get all services under one roof.
"I led the inspection of several parcels of land in Lurambi Sub-county where the Affordable Housing Project and the proposed new County Headquarters could be potentially located. Both projects are of great strategic importance to Kakamega County." Governor Barasa posted on his social media pages.
He also noted that the affordablehousingproject will improve shelter for the resident."The Affordable Housing Project that's spearheaded by the National Government in collaboration with the County Government will be instrumental in providing shelter to an ever-growing population in Kakamega County." He said
"On the other hand, the proposed new County Headquarters will bring all county departments under one roof, effectively improving service delivery and saving the County millions in form of rent. Currently, several County Government departments are located on rented premises across the Kakamega CBD." He added.
