Supporters of the United Democratic Alliance in Nyanza have painted Raila's Kisumu turf yellow as part of their campaign to elect Deputy President William Ruto to the presidency. Despite the perception that the region is dominated by ODM, the team under the umbrella of Lakefront for Ruto claimed they will begin vigorous campaigns to popularize Ruto's policies in the region.
They stated they plan to market Deputy President William Ruto first by opening multiple UDA branches in Kisumu County's seven Sub-Counties, led by Kisumu County UDA chairman John Odenyo. "We're going to walk around the wards and constituencies to solidify the DP's grassroots support," Odenyo stated.
Because of stiff opposition politics, Odenyo stated, the people of Nyanza have endured economic marginalization and exclusion in the sharing of the national cake for many years, adding that it is past time for the Nyanza area to embrace political diversity and seek a new political route.
“Luo Nyanza deserves a new political leadership that is on top of the game, has its eyes on the ball, and combines national ideals and aspirations,” Odenyo added. An ally of Ruto's urged voters to vote for leaders who will ensure that power and authority are exercised in a transparent and accountable manner, with the people's interests in mind.
Kisumu UDA branch secretary Joy Roberts, convener David Ger, and Women league organizer Everline Otieno joined him. During the inaugural Ruto campaign drive in the region, which is seen as a strong opposition stronghold, he spoke to the press at Goan grounds in Kisumu city.
Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay, Kisii, and Nyamira Counties are regarded hotbeds of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), with the region's residents voting heavily for Raila Odinga. Everline Otieno, speaking about this, stated that they are aware that they have a huge task ahead of them because the region is Raila's.
