Yesterday, Bonchari voters headed to the polling stations to elect their new Member of Parliament following the demise of the late Oroo Oyioka who succumbed in February last year after ailing for a long time.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has declared the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party candidate Pavel Oimeke for winning the Bonchari by-election. Mr. Oimeke garnered 8,049 votes followed closely by Jubilee's Zebedeo Opore who got 7279 and Teresia Bitutu of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) came 3rd after getting 6964 votes.
The ODM party supporters from Bonchari have applauded Kisii governor Hon. James Ongwae for delivering victory to Pavel Oimeke in the just concluded by election. Ongwae is said to have worked hard campaigning for the Odm candidate and convincing the citizens to elect the Odm candidate.
