Winnie Odinga, the daughter of Raila Odinga, made a statement today after arriving in Arusha, Tanzania, in preparation for her oath of office as a member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
Winnie arrived at their corporate headquarters in a stylish coordinated dress. She joined other lawmakers, including Hassan Omar of the UDA and her Azimio counterparts Hon. Kanini Kega and Kennedy Kalonzo, among others.
Winnie welcomed everyone and wished her fellow lawmakers well as they prepared to take office after taking the oath of office. Winnie, who was really pleased with her accomplishment, remarked, "New kids in the block."
The newest kids in the block. Thank you to everyone of the East Africa Legislative Assembly's members "Winnie tweeted something.
Her father, Raila Odinga, responded to the tweet by thanking all of the elected EALA MPs. She also praised her daughter, referring to her as the lastborn in Dholuo dialect.
"Congratulations to you Chogo and the entire Kenyan EALA team, "said Raila.
Winnie is Raila's final kid, and the Luo word "chogo" (last born) actually means "last born" in this context.
