KTN News' former reporter Michael Gitonga has been named the secretary for government functions by President William Ruto.
Gitonga expressed his gratitude to the president for giving him the post in a tweet, in which he also shared information about his new position.
"A new year means fresh starts, and for that I am most thankful to God." "I would also like to thank President William Ruto of Kenya for giving me the chance to represent this country as Secretary of State," he said.
He added that the First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto, is someone to whom he would always be grateful.

Gitonga was the Director of Communication in the First Lady's Office just before being named Secretary of State Affairs.
Gitonga was a newscaster and the presenter of the station's morning show while working for the Standard Group.
He joins others like Emmanuel Talam, the media secretary, and Hussein Mohamed, the president's communications manager.
