DP Rigathi Gachagua Tells Mathira Chiefs To Resign For Supporting Azimio.

DP Rigathi Gachagua Tells Mathira Chiefs To Resign For Supporting Azimio.

The deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, called two chiefs and an assistant chief in the Mathira constituency and demanded that they resign because they had supported Azimio during the elections in August 2022. This prompted the chiefs to go into panic mode over their job security.

The two chiefs, George Mukabi, Dadson Ithiru, and assistant chief Burton Chiuma, said that vice president Rigathi Gachagua had called them late at night and told them it was "time for payback."

The deputy county commissioner for Mathira East, Mr. Peter Gicheha, later corroborated this, saying that the chiefs had reported the problem to him and that it was a private matter involving them and the deputy president.

The three administrators reportedly feared losing their jobs as a result of the vice president Rigathi Gachagua's stance, according to The Nation, which first reported the story.

The deputy president Rigathi Gachagua reportedly urged one of the administrators to start looking for anything else to do because he was going home and could not bear to hear any of his justifications, according to the nation.
