There is a petition pushing to have Raila in Ruto’s government that has been filed in parliament. Dadaab MP Farah Maalim has confirmed that he has received a petition pushing to have Opposition Leader’s Office included in the government as part of Executive.

The petition that has been filed by Victor Okul seeks to also bring back the Prime Minister’s office. Okul says that introduction of those offices will do away with the tension that usually surrounds the country during elections. He says it will also ensure that resources are distributed properly in the country as the leaders will come from different parts of the country.

The petitioner has noted that the current winner takes it all system is responsible for the uncertainty during elections. When Maalim broke the news to fellow parliamentarians, there was a division with some Kenya Kwanza MPs saying that the petition is bringing back BBI.

A number of proposals in the petition are similar with those in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) that was stopped by the courts. Mukurweini MP Kaguchia has rubbished the petition saying the petitioner is being used by Opposition to have Raila get a portion of government.

“The petitioner is someone trying to bring us BBI a second time after it failed. We cannot accept that. The country now needs to focus on important things that will bring change or the people,” Kaguchia has said.
