It all started on Tuesday when a BBI discussion on social media degenerated into ethnic profiling subsequently triggering public outrage among Kenyans.
David Ndii who had earlier claimed that the BBI bill will be approved only in Luo Nyanza Counties got enraged after a blogger laughed off his claims few minutes after Busia, Narok and West Pokot Counties approved the bill.
Ndii would later go wild on twitter telling the blogger called Asamoh (from Nyanza) that there is a reason why Asamoh’s community is the only one he refers to as ihii (uncircumcised) despite the fact that there are other communities in Kenya that do not practice circumcision too.
Given the blogger’s Luo background many people saw the slur as directed towards the Luo Community therefore sparking a great outrage among Kenyans who castigated Ndii for being reckless with his remarks.
Since David Ndii’s tweet went viral there are many leaders and other influential people who have called out Ndii over his seemingly outrageous tweet.
Some of the Kenyan leaders and influential persons who have since criticized Ndii over these remarks are; Silas Jakakimba, Philip Etale, Abduba Dida, Otiende Amollo, Donald Kipkorir, Blogger Dikembe and many others.
This may have prompted David Ndii to break his silence over the issue on Wednesday February 17, 2021 however he remained unapologetic.
“How so wonderful it would be if the moral outrage elicited by this tweet was also directed at the looters, murderers flying flags. No, you fawn. But you can’t resist virtue signaling, speaking up for juveniles gloating as they interfere with the constitution,” twitted Ndii.
Another group which was also caught in the middle of the ugly altercation over Ndii’s tweet was the Linda Katiba group which David Ndii leads. Some of them like Jerotich Carol, Martha Karua and Boniface Mwangi also castigated Ndii.
This was perhaps after Kenyans on twitter started questioning the morals of the group (Linda Katiba) that claims to be defending Kenyans yet one of their members is indeed engaging in ethnic profiling of a whole community.
