Nyeri, Murang'a, Kiambu and Kirinyaga are among counties on the west of Mt Kenya. This region is rich in the number of voters having over three million voters. Both running mates of the top candidates on presidential race( Ruto and Raila) are from this region. What do the latest poll say about the favourism of the four candidates in this region?
An opinion poll by IRS(Intel Research Solution) has revealed percentage of favourism of each candidate. According to IRS, Dp Ruto has 66.6% favourism in this region while Raila has 24.8%. Roots party candidature George Wajackoya comes out with 3.3% favourism while David Mwaure gets 1.4%.
From this, it is clear that United Democratic Movement (UDA) party leader William Ruto is the most preferred candidate in Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Nyeri and Murang'a counties that form Mt Kenya West region. The Kenya Kwanza leader remains top in these counties ahead of Raila Odinga despite facing competition from Martha Karua and President Uhuru who are backing the ODM leader, Ruto remains favourite among the people from the region. Ruto has maintained this lead for months now and he can therefore claim that these counties( Kiambu, Murang'a, Nyeri, Kirinyaga) from Mt Kenya West region will fully back him.
