Former Meru County Senator Hon. Mithika Linturi is among the appointees in the various ministries in the new administration led by President William Ruto. Mithika Linturi who was eyeing the Meru gubernatorial seat on a UDA party emerged lost to an independent candidate Hon. Kawira Mwangaza in the 2022 general elections. President Ruto during the interdenominational prayers at Maua stadium, had promised to reward Mithika Linturi as he has campaigned for him in the Mt.Kenya region especially in Meru County.

Today, President William Ruto revealed his appointees in the various cabinet dockets and Mithika Linturi was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development is to replace Peter Munya who served in the previous government under former president Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. Hon. Mithika Linturi has since thanked the President for the honour and has also promised to serve Kenyans diligently and to the best of his ability.
