President Ruto said that he had plans to import ten million bags of GMO-containing corn when speaking with media representatives at the state house on Wednesday, April 4. He defended it, saying that it would give farmers adequate time to work on their crops and generate some 30 million bags.

The usage of GMOs was also justified by President Ruto, who said that they are safe for human consumption. He is sure that the items are safe because he is a scientist and has been utilizing them.

"I cannot jeopardize the safety of my people. I'm a scientist, and we all agree that GMOs are safe in our profession. Despite my consumption, I have not developed breasts. Please refrain from using propaganda "he stated.
In contrast to what the opposition leader Raila Odinga had before claimed, he claimed that he had never developed breasts as a result of consuming GMO food. Raila had advocated for opposition to the eating of GMOs, claiming that it was unsafe for people and that men would end up developing breasts as a result.
