Most Mt. Kenya Leaders Supporting Azimio Risks Losing their Seats - Moses Kuria

The Chama Cha Kazi party leader Moses Kuria on Wednesday night continued casting aspersions on Raila Odinga’s ability to gain an edge in the Mount Kenya region. He in fact surprised many Kenyans when he said that leaders from the Mount Kenya region on the Azimio side risks losing their seats.

Speaking during a KTN interview with Ken Mijungu, Kuria expressed his fears especially for Mount Kenya leader who have already come out to publicly campaign for Raila especially using the Jubilee party.

“I am very sceptical and my only regret is that the only thing that Jubilee will produce is casualties. We are going to lose wonderful leaders, not on the account of anything else but because of the side they are supporting,” said Kuria.

He further reiterated that according to the research he has done with his constituents, people are less likely to listen to you as a leader once they realize you have joined the Azimio side.

“Where I come from, as long as you are in that political formation (Azimio) you don’t even have a chance to tell people anything. The moment you mention that political formation, they will tell you to go away,” asserted Kuria.

Kuria however claimed that Raila Odinga could have had a better chance in the Mount Kenya region had he not entered into any alliance with the Jubilee party. He feels that there is a great resentment against the Jubilee party among the Mount Kenya people and that is likely to even affect the Azimio la Umoja movement.

The Mount Kenya region has now produced many leaders who are now part and parcel of the Raila Odinga’s campaign team. Some of the Mount Kenya leaders who are now supporting Raila Odinga are Lee Kinyanjui, Sabina Chege, Kiraitu Murungi, Ndiritu Murithi, Peter Kenneth, Peter Munya and Rachel Shebesh among others.

Among them there are some who are seeking re-election in their respective posts. Will their political persuasion be used against them by the electorates as alleged by Moses Kuria?
