Raila Tosha? Major Setback To Ruto As Ally Decamps Him For Raila

On September 13, 2021, DP Ruto suffered a major setback as a key ally decamped him for Raila Odinga.

Former House Speaker Francis ole Kaparo ditched Deputy President William Ruto in favor of ODM leader Raila Odinga in Kenya's presidential election.

Kaparo made the statement on Monday during his Raila's regional consultative meeting in Kaijiado, which was attended by a number of politicians, including Governor Joseph Ole Lenku (Kajiado), Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko, and Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina.

Kaparo said Raila has the interest of the Maasai Community at heart.

In the run-up to the 2017 elections, Kaparo was the chairman of the Ruto-led United Republican Party, which was one of the 13 parties that merged to create the Jubilee coalition.

“Let me tell you the truth, even though I am not a member of the ODM or Jubilee parties, the man (Raila) cannot hurt the Masaai community,” Kaparo added.
