Will DP Ruto support Kalenjin Queen for Nandi Women Rep?

Word has it that Deputy President William Ruto will be backing her ‘daughter’ and an upcoming female politician for the Nandi County Woman Rep position comes 2022 general elections.

According to a group of Nandi youth led by Elisha Kiprop, the Kalenjin Queen Dorothy Jepkirui has a massive support from the locals and commands a big following because she works closely with the people and the DP. When asked, she said the DP has supported her throughout her life and he is like a father to him and she is sure in the next year's general elections, she will get his support.

Jepkirui, a sassy, tall, dark Kalenjin beauty is a fashion designer who also runs a chain of businesses in Nairobi and Eldoret cities. She is likely to unseat the Nandi county's current Woman Representative Mrs Tecla Tum because of her good link with the residents. This is because a number of United Democratic Alliance leaders are said to be behind her.

The Kalenjin Queen, who is married to a senior politician says she is ready for the job so as to help the people of Nandi and the entire country. Speaking to this writer in her Nairobi home during the interview, she said: "I have all it takes to represent Nandi County in parliament, I was born in Nandi and I know exactly how to uplift the lives of my people".

A few months ago, the business woman was among the VIPs invited to Deputy President’s daughter June Ruto wedding in Karen.

Her photos with the DP and his wife Racheal Ruto were a subject of discussion on social media platforms. Many people referred her as DP's daughter because she is always seen next to him and her face resembles that of the family.

In 2019, Dorothy was featured in the Daily Nation for her fashion business, the story, she said has helped her meet Senior people in and outside the country.

On her business, Dorothy said she will continue with her fashion business. "I will continue running all my businesses from real estate to fashion even after winning the Nandi County women rep seat so that I will be able to deliver more."
