Just In: ODM Reveal Instructions from the President's Team that Forced Raila to Break Protocol at Burial

President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga on saturday shared the podium in public for the first time since the 2022 general elections. Both leaders attended Mukami Kimathi’s burial as well as the Kip Keino classics held at Kasarani stadium.

On Sunday, the two also attended the Mashemeji derby held at Nyayo stadium where they seemed to have a great time together.

However, questions on protocol and respect arose after Raila arrived after the president at Mukami Kimathi’s burial. As protocol demands, all leaders should be seated and have arrived earlier than the president in any public event.

On this day however, Raila arrived late disrupting the event which the head of state was already in. Kenyans castigated the opposition leader for such.

However, ODM party communications director Philip Etale who arrived at the funeral ceremony with Raila revealed that it was not Raila’s plan to break protocol. Etale revealed that Raila’s chopper was ready to fly but a communication came through that all choppers should halt their ascend as the Harambee one transporting the president was ready for takeoff.

This communication led to a delay that made Raila arrive at the function after the president.

“Juvenile or not, but circumstances forced him to arrive late. His chopper was ready for takeoff from Wilson by 9:45am. But then came a communication to the pilot stating that Harambee One that was carrying Ruto was taking off and had to wait,” Etale.
