In news aired in Citizen Tv this evening of August 12, Keroche Breweries Boss Madam Tabitha Karanja wins the senatorial seat with majority votes. Tabitha who is a businesswoman was running under the UDA ticket after being nominated to run for senator office.
Tabitha Karanja, the founder of Keroche Breweries Limited, battled against seasoned politicians Koigi Wa Wamwere and John Mututho, a former Naivasha MP. While Mr. Wamwere was running as an independent, Mr. Mututho was running on the Orange Democratic Movement ticket.Lawrence Macharia, a former chief administrative secretary of Industrialization for Jubilee, Mr. Michael Wechuli, a member of the Amani National Congress, Mr. Daniel Kimani, a member of Ford-Kenya, Mr. Thomas Mwangi, Mr. Bonface Mwai, Mr. Abednego Mwangi, and Mr. Crispus Wathimba (Independent) were the other candidates running for the senate seat.
Tabitha Karanja is not new in limelight after her company was closed by the government on allegations of tax evasion. Nakuru County incumbent Senator Hon. Susan Kihika was running for the office of Governor under UDA ticket. Others in the Governor race are the seating Governor Lee Kinyanjui who was seeking to retain his seat under Jubilee Ticket.
