Deputy President popularity in the Mountain has become the talk of the town. The Second in Command had a huge following in the region but according to the latest opinion polls released indicates his support is dropping at a very high speed while the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is quickly gaining.
Some have suggested that those are paid opinion polls and they reflect nothing that is going on the ground. In the last few weeks, the Majority of Mt. Kenya leaders have been defecting to the UDA party after claiming the region is full behind Uhuru' s deputy. This saw Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru join the Hustler Nation.
Her arrival has caused wranglers inside the UDA Party and it threatened the existence of Women Representative Wangui Ngirici. Ngirici had declared she is going for the top seat in Kirinyaga County meaning she will have to battle it out against the incumbent Governor Waigiru in the UDA nomination.
Yesterday she had threatened to ditch the UDA party together with his supporters a move that angered UDA supporters. He was told he will fail terribly if she decides to betray the DP. Kirinyaga residents also warned her that it will make Waiguru' s re- election easier. But today morning, the MP has come up with another statement.
According to Ngirici, she will not be seen in Karen frequently because she has retreated to consolidate votes for Deputy President William Ruto in the County. This move has melted the hearts of tangatanga supporters noting that there was great concern about how Kirinyaga politics would go.
Ngirici was the first member of the UDA Party in Kirinyaga and he has used his resource and energy to build the Party. This means that if everything goes as planned, then Waigiru and Ngirici will have to fight for the Gubernatorial ticket in the UDA Party nomination. The winner will also have to face Martha Karua.
