Bungoma: 6 Out Of 9 MPs Now Support Dp Ruto's 2022 Bid

The date for the next general election is now drawing closer and deputy president Dr William Ruto's inroads to various regions across the country, Western being of no exception, seem to have borne fruits.

This follows after it emerged that Dr Ruto had managed to successfully woo majority of the elected Members of Parliament from Bungoma to his side to help him in unifying the county and the entire region for his benefit in his contemplated State House journey.

Six MPs from various political parties have now decamped to Tanga Tanga faction, a political wing in Jubilee comprising the DP and his loyalists who are determined to form the next government.

The lawmakers who have joined other politicians from the region and vowed to make Dr Ruto the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya next include:

1) Didmus Barasa - Kimilili

Barasa has Dr Ruto's ardent supporter since his election to office in 2017. He has been among the few footsoldiers who stood with the DP even after others deserted him (Dr William Ruto).

His development record in Kimilili is also unmatched and hence, he could be headed for a reelection in an opposition dominated region.

Nevertheless, he once hinted that he wanted to ditch Tanga Tanga for FORD-Kenya. However, he later changed tuned and argued he was in the Hustler Nation to stay.

2) Daniel Wanyama - Webuye West

Daniel Wanyama won Webuye West Parliamentary seat on Jubilee ticket in 2017. He has stuck to Dr Ruto's camp since then until now.

3) John Waluke - Sirisia

Waluke hails from FORD-Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula's home constituency. He was elected in 2013 on ODM ticket but later joined Jubilee where he was reelected in 2017 polls.

4) Fred Kapondi - Mt Elgon

Kapondi is another MP who has been DP's footsoldier in Western since 2017.

5) Mwambu Mabonga - Bumula

Mwabonga was elected on and independent ticket in 2017 but he has since shifted camp and joined Dr Ruto.

6) Majimbo Kalasinga - Kabuchai

He could be the latest entrant into the DP's team. He was elected for the first time to office in 2021 during a by-election.

Only Dr Eseli Simiyu (Tongaren MP), Athanus Wafula Wamunyinyi (Kanduyi MP), both of who were collected on FORD-Kenya tickets, and Webuye East lawmaker Bernard Sambu of Amani National Congress (ANC) are not in Dr Ruto's camp.
