ODM Party leader has been served another blow by Ruto after the former South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara has made a U-Turn and said that his People's Democratic Party will support DP William Ruto for Presidency come 2022.
This contradicted his earlier statement he made in July, saying that the PDU will rally behind Uhuru and Raila and make sure it supports the Building Bridges Initiative.
"After the NEC meeting, PDP will start negotiations with other parties with a view of positioning itself as the party of choice in the 2022 general election,” Magara said.
Changing his tune on Sunday, Magara made this declaration amid the BBI politics heightening, whereby Ruto Brigade is calling for consensus this uncontested referendum, while Raila if for the BBI and no alteration whatsoever will be made on the document.
It has become the latest blow to Raila after the launch of the collection of signatures to initiate the referendum program. However, it has not been clear on what transpired and led to the postponement. According to the statement released, there were problems with the publication of the document.
"PDP party will rally behind Dr. William Samoei Ruto Presidency come 2022," Magara said on Sunday.
