The Office of the Chief Justice of Kenya issued clarification after allegations that Martha Koome praised President William Ruto for converting the State House into a house of prayer.
The screenshot, which mimicked the Chief Justice's handle and image, claimed Koome was pleased with the Head of State's decision to hold the Thanksgiving event on Sunday, September 26, at the State House.
It further pretended to challenge the judiciary to follow suit.
“Thank you William Ruto for making the State House a house of prayer. A good example of Kenyan justice. Kenya is a land of God,” the fake tweet said, in part.
However, communications adviser in the Chief Justice's office, Michael Mumo, flagged the post, which was dated Sunday, September 25, 2022 and sent at 9:20 p.m., as a fake.
A random check of CJ's name revealed that her last post was written on Friday September 23 and that the fake post had abused her title by including a lowercase "j" in the title portion of her name, which instead should read "CJMarthaKoome".
