Mount Kenya is a rich voting basket block for any presidential candidate come the next general elections which is around the corner. This region is like a dangling carrot that every presidential aspirant wants to have a taste of and the only person who works hard for it is the person who will have it. The truth is DP Ruto has really made in roads in this region and he has massive support that if other presidential hopefuls don't up their game then the dangling carrot will be taken by the chief hustler himself.
However, the irony is the two sides of the mountain are currently not in good terms politically as the East side of the mountain claims that they have given their big brothers from the West of the mountain unwavering support and it's high time the West supports the East for their quest to join the presidential race. This is where ODM party leader Raila Odinga should take advantage and choose a running mate from the East side of the mountain to split the region's voting basket. If Raila can bring on board someone like JB Muturi and other presidential candidates go for running mates from the West side of the mountain then Raila will have succeeded in splitting the votes and he will win the Presidential elections come 2022.
