Wilson Sossion a former secretary general of the Kenya National Union of Teachers has debunked assertions made by Azimio La Umoja leaders that the presidential election was tainted by flagrant manipulation of the results.
Prior to withdrawing his candidacy for the Senate, Sossion, who lost the Bomet County UDA primaries, had ambitions to hold the office. Nevertheless, before switching to the UDA, Sossion was a member of the 12th Parliament elected on the Orange Democratic Movement banner.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission portal was not hacked, as claimed by some Azimio La Umoja leaders, Mr. Sossion added in a subsequent statement.
This comes days after Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio La Umoja, moved to the Supreme Court to file a lawsuit seeking to overturn the presidential results that declared William Ruto, a presidential candidate for the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, as the winner.
Different politicians and stakeholders have expressed concern over Azimio La Umoja's move to the Supreme Court. The Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition has accused the independent elections body of election fraud. The assertions made by Azimio La Umoja, however, have been rejected as incorrect and lacking in supporting evidence by a number of leaders on the opposite side, including Sossion.
