On Wednesday, September 8, 2021, while speaking on Citizen TV, Waiguru revealed that if she were to run for another political position using the Jubilee party and her competitor uses another party, she will be knocked out.
“The truth of the matter is that defending my seat if the polls were held today would be very difficult, and that is the truth of the matter, unless something changes in Jubilee,”
“If I ran today on a Jubilee ticket and someone else ran on a different party, even if people felt I had performed, it would be hard to convince them to vote for me,” she said.
The central region icon stated that Jubilee Party and President Uhuru Kenyatta need to reconnect with Mt. Kenya residents before it’s too late for them to realize that they no longer have influence in the region.
“Jubilee needs to look internally at its issues in order to be acceptable to the people of Mt. Kenya. Jubilee has a lot of work in revamping the party and we need to do it fairly fast, revamping the party and resonating with the people and giving the party back to the people,” she added.
She said that running the government is not as easy as it is, adding that if President Uhuru was working closely with Deputy President William Ruto, it could have been so easy to fix the current situation in the mountain.
According to her, operating and running the Jubilee party without DP Ruto has paved way for challenges, saying that it was the right time to find remedies.
“There are many nuts and bolts and complexity in running the government but when they (Uhuru and Ruto) are not working together we need to think about how to resolve it,” she added.
