Kenya's Longest Serving Member Of Parliament Shown Dust By His UDA Counterpart

The longest serving MP, Jimmy Angwenyi has been shown dust by his United Democratic Alliance, (UDA) counterpart Japheth Nyakundi. Jimmy Angwenyi was defeated by Japheth Nyakundi who gathered 11,834 votes in the Kitutu Chache North constituency. The longest serving MP only managed 8,260 votes.

The incumbent had served for five good years from the year 1997 all the way up to 2007. However in the year 2007 upon losing the election, he was reelected in the year 2013 on a jubilee party ticket.

In the year 2007, Jimmy Angwenyi was in confrontation by his opponents supporters in a scuffle where one person was shot dead. A petition was also filed at a high Court in Kisii county concerning the matter.
