Some facts are so strange that you might think they are not real.
Most of the things that you hear about are actually real.

Cheetahs actually meow
I know right!
You totally didn’t expect an animal like a cheetah to meow.
You expect a cheetah to roar just like the lion.
But well, the cheetah actually meows like the domestic house cats.
Only four of the animals in the same family panthera of the cats roar, that is; lions, tigers, leopards and jaguars.
The difference in their sound comes from their voice boxes.
The likes of lions have a ligament that can be stretched in their voice box to create a larger sound-producing passage and hence a wider range of pitch while the likes of cheetahs have a fixed structure in the voice box that limits the sounds they can produce.
They purr continuously and cannot roar.
A woman survived the sinking of both the Titanic and its sisters ship, the Britannic
Her name is Violet Jessop.
She was actually nicknamed “Miss unsinkable”.
She was a stewardess and nurse on the White Star Line’s trio of Olympic-class passenger ships.
As if that was not enough, she was also in the trio’s third sister ship, the Olympic when it collided with a British warship in 1911.

This is according to the US government.
The Great Stink of London
It is unbelievable how a whole city like London can stink.
This happened in the 1858.
The heat dried up the River Thames one summer and that is where all the human waste used to collect.
There was an unbearable smell that was throughout the city.
That was when the fastest parliament decisions ever made took place.
The parliament was held in their building on the bank of River Thames where they came up with the decision to reform the London sewer system.
A written story that came true
The story was written by Edgar Allan Poe.
He wrote a novel in 1838 in which four shipwrecked survivors at the point of starvation.
They starved and chose to resort to cannibalism.
They slayed the young cabin boy, Richard parker and ate him.
This was just but a story to Allan when he wrote it little did he know it would become a real true story.
46 years later after writing the novel that is in 1884, a ship called the Mignonette sank and four crew members survived at the point of starvation.
They slayed the youngest of them, Richard Parker and ate him.
Sounds like a bad dream right!
Babies had operations done on them without any anesthesia
Can you imagine having a surgery without anesthesia?
How can innocent little ones have this happen to them?
It was believed that babies couldn’t feel pain but we both know that is not right.
Anesthesia was used on babies not until 1987.
So you can actually imagine what babies before that used to go through.
The doctors used muscle relaxers instead of anesthesia that had a paralytic effect to stop the baby from moving.
They couldn’t move or cry but they could see, feel and hear everything.
This is so heart breaking .
It is not even known why the doctors did this to babies.
Those are just some of the historical facts that are not fictional.
What other stories do you know that are real?
