Things You Should Know About Cats, Why They Make Noises At Night

There are 37 species in the Felidae (Cat family), with cheetahs, tigers, pumas, lions, leopards, jaguars, lynx, and domestic cats being the most prevalent. In this family, the latter is the only domesticated species.

Domestic cats have certain characteristics.

They have a flexible physique that allows for quick reactions, sharp teeth, and retractable claws that allow them to kill prey. Finally, their sense of smell and night vision have improved.

Cats may communicate in a variety of ways, such as by meowing or by making certain body motions. The majority of cats, though, do cry at night. I'm sure you've heard them in the middle of the night, especially if you're in Mombasa, where there are a lot of cats on the streets.

In this article, I'll discuss some of the reasons why cats cry so loudly at night.

1. Cats are more active at night by nature.

Cats prefer to scream at night because that is when they are most active, as opposed to during the day. The majority of cats sleep during the day and begin prowling about at night in quest of food.

2. Thyroid hyperactivity

If your cat meows more frequently at night, make an appointment with your veterinarian because this could be an indication of renal illness.

3. Advanced age

As cats get older, cognitive dysfunction syndrome affects their brains. Meowing in the middle of the night is one of the most evident signs of this.

4. When the heat is turned on.

A female cat may make a loud cry in order for a male cat to approach and mate with her. They make a yowling sound while doing the act.

5. Feel suffocated

When you lock your outdoor cats inside the home at night, they may feel confined. It's preferable to make an aperture so the cat can walk outside at night and let off steam.

6. Nervousness

Finally, when a cat is separated from other cats, it may scream out in pain due to loneliness.
