Facts about domestic cats which makes them outstanding

A domestic cat is a small mammal with a scientific name Felis catus. Cat is the only domesticated species in the family Felidae. It has cousins which live in the wild and they when they see people. Cats are loved by humans for various reasons e.g they are kept as pets for companionship and also kept for eradicating rodents such as rats and mice. They keep away dangerous creatures such as snakes from getting into peoples' homes. A cat has a life span of between 2 to 16 years. Cats have gestation period of between 58 and 67 days. An adult cat can weigh between 3.6 and 4.5kg and can run at speeds up to 48km/hr. Cats spend most of their time (12-16 hours daily) sleeping to conserve their energy. Cats are so emotional and likes to be held and cuddled. It is believed that they can feel when someone is upset and wants to comfort them. Some cats know when someone is about to die.
