
Comrades have been raised several complaints over the delay and late disbursement of Higher Education Loans Board loans to comrades in higher institutions of learning. Those who have got a minimum University entry grade are eligible to apply for the loan and later repay it with a little interest on it either whole or partly.
Comrades of Moi University this week complained of starvation in their campuses due to the long period of the HELB loan arriving their personal accounts. University of Nairobi alumni and now Embakasi East Member of Parliament took the matter seriously and even planned to call for a demonstration if the rights of the comrades were not met.
Earlier today Babu Owino met the Cabinet Secretary for Treasury Ambur Yatani who promised to disbursed about 2.83 million to Higher Education Loans Board so that the money can be disbursed to comrades bank account's.
He also added that if this is to fail they won't relent on this matter and would go for a serious demonstration.
