Spencer Wangila sat for his KCPE exam at Masikhu primary school and received a score of 370, and his ambition was to attend Kimilili Boys High School. When he received a result slip displaying a female gender, it was his first shock game.
"When my parents went to pick up the result slip, we noticed that my gender was marked as female," Wangila explained.
When he received a calling letter from Naromoru Girls Secondary School in Nyeri County, his expectations were dashed even more.
The family is distraught, and the father complains that he has had sleepless nights over the situation.
The father claimed that as soon as he received a result slip identifying his son's gender as female, he took the initiative to inform county educational administrators, who assured him that the error would be corrected.
However, it appears that his kid did not receive a calling letter from a girl's school, indicating that the situation was not addressed.
The family is seeking help from education stakeholders.
