NHIF gives pregnant women another reason to smile as it announces the following about Linda mama

Tuesday third of January 2023, national health insurance fund (NHIF) has cleared the air of rumors that were being spread concerning it's cessation to fund Linda mama cover.

The rumors have been spreading on all social media platforms about this cruel act of NHIF cutting off funds from Linda mama. Kenyan pregnant women were worried about the act since these funds have been helping alot during to their pregnancy journey.Linda mama cover dates back to 2013 where former president uhuru Kenyatta's government introduced a free user fee program for pregnant women known as free maternity scheme.

Later on in 2017, the government transferred this scheme to NHIF and the name changed to Linda mama.When you talk of Linda mama cover it refers to a special type of health insurance cover covering for over 6 million women who are pregnant. It is also extended to cover for delivery women and their neonates upto 6 weeks of age.

Linda mama health insurance cover stands for women under antenatal care, delivery period and postnatal period upto 6 weeks of age. All the costs incurred by women be it through cesarean section or normal delivery, Linda mama cover stands for them.

All you need to get this cover is to visit a nearby government hospital of any level and register with them for this cover. The process takes less than ten minutes and you will be good to go. Government from time to time usually urge women to cover themselves with this scheme as it has been provided for free to help mothers.

The main aim of Linda mama is to ensure that there is reduced maternal and newborn mortality and promote the health of the mother and the baby after delivery.
