A couple that hails from Nairobi county have narrated their parenting experience pulling out the heartheartstrings of social media users online.
Both lovebirds are deaf and life has not been easy on their side especially when it comes to raising their kids.
According to Roselyn Atieno, she was born deaf and raised in Kisumu county. She later met her husband, Julius Oduor at Maseno school for the deaf where they started developing feelings towards each other.
One thing led to the other and the two later tied the knot and moved to Nairobi where they are currently living and are blessed with four healthy kids who have hearing abilities.
Despite the fact that they are deaf, Owino has made it known that their kids find it difficult to believe this and tend to think they are assuming them when talking or crying.
"My children cannot believe that we are deaf, but when they grow up, they know we are. They at least learn sign language," she noted
She further added that their kids are like angels sent to them as they help them cope with common life challenges especially when it comes to government services that require interpretation.
"One of my sons is now in form two. He's very fluent in sign language. He supports us in interpretation as we cannot afford to pay a sign interpreter," she added.
Meanwhile, the couple is depending on grocery and tailoring businesses to afford to take their kids school and provide food. Apparently, this comes after missing out on numerous job opportunities due to communication barriers.
