"In the five years period the hospital has not had maternal mortality where over 100 mothers give birth in the facility. i decided to appreciate the mothers by giving them and their children an early christmas gift where we ate together and their children handed gifts,"Nyambura Said.

Nyambura said that being the world disability day the hospital has made efforts to prevent disability at conception and delivery.

She said that the subcounty public health has given the hospital a clean bill of health.

"I applaud the doctors and nurses in the hospital as they do their best to ensure every mother who comes to the facility goes home with their babies and the mother goes home healthy,"Nyambura said

Nyambura said they face a challenge of lack of having a blood bank where Thika level 5 hospital has come in handy to assist the hospital with blood whenever needed on time to save lives.

Äccording to the NHIF contract with the hospital we are not supposed to charge any amount on patients who need blood transfusion which is a challenge of travelling from Kiambu town to Thika level 5 hospital to get blood for a patient,"Nyambura said.

Nyambura dispelled rumours that private hospitals are interested in performing cesarean sections so as to make money.

Ït is not true that private hospitals are only interested in performing cesarean section so as to make money. This is a rumour and in the real sense Cesarean section does bring money but normal delivery does,"Nyambura said

She called on financially abled women not to be applying for linda mama as NHIF will cater for the and the linda mama service be accessed by those in need of it.

Francis Koina Kiambu town Member of county assembly who attended the celebrations said that the hospital was of help to many patients during the nurses strike where most of the patients came from neighbouring counties.

"Despite having kiambu level 5 hospital during the nationwide nurses strike, mercylite hospital save many lives and treat patients where we embrace private hospitals in their efforts to save lives," Koina said.

Koina said that the private hospital will complement Kiambu level 5 hospital due to the influx of patients who seek services as patients are treated through the health insurance cover.

"The NHIF has really helped our people and those who visit mercylite hospital use the card to be treated without financial pressure,"Koina said.

Keziah Wanjira, a mother who has delivered her three babies at the hospital said that the hospital is clean and through NHIF card and Linda mama it is a relief for many mothers.

Joan Wanjiku a patient in the hospital said that the hospital came to her aid when she did not have money and has worked a formula of payments with the hospital as she gets treated
