Today through their Facebook page Judicial Service Commission has stated that Justice Koome has been approved as the next chief justice of the Republic of Kenya by the Parliament. "Parliament has today approved the historic nomination of lady justice Koome Martha Karambu as the next Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya", read part of the message. "Upon being sworn in, Justice Koome will become the first woman CJ in Kenya", they added.
Koome beat a series of judges including justice Marete Njagi and Fred Ngatia in the podium. After the nomination top most Kenyan leaders sent their congratulations via social media platforms as William Ruto went an extra mile to reach her through phone call. Martha is yet to be sworn in.
