Deputy President William Ruto has expressed confident that he will beat ODM leader Raila Odinga hands down in the upcoming presidential election, arguing that the ODM leader is a perennial loser who cannot beat him for the top seat.
Speaking at Ndaragwa Town, Ndaragwa Constituency in Nyandarua County during his tour to popularise his bottom-up economic approach, Ruto claimed that his competitors have run out of plans and have now resorted to tribal politics.
He accused his competitors of trying to incite tribes against each other in the pretence of uniting Kenyans in order to revive their lost glory, adding that Kenyans need not to go back to a post election violence.
"Watu wameishiwa na plan, eti wanafikiria wakituchochea ati kabila hii na kabila hii ndio watafufua siasa yao (loosely translating to; People have run out of plans, now they think if they cheat us with tribal politics they will be able to revive their politics)," Ruto said.
The DP, referring to Raila as "Mtu wa Kitendawili", expressed confidence that being that Raila was defeated by former President Daniel Moi, Mwai Kibaki and in the recent past by President Uhuru Kenyatta, he has No reason to fear him ahead of the 2022 election.
"Huyu mtu wa Kitendawili si alishindwa na Moi, na akashindwa na Kibaki, na akashindwa na Uhuru, sasa mimi ataniweza?", Ruto posed as crowd went wild, which loosely translates to;
"If he was defeated by Moi, Kibaki and Uhuru, so will he manage to defeat me?"
