He is among those who have declared interest in the seat and says that he will be going it all the way to the ballot, despite suspicions from other leaders that he is a project of a more powerful politician.
Speaking in Embu on Sunday, he stressed on the need for Kenyans to go for a new face, saying that the same faces who have been in government for a long time have nothing new to offer.
He also suggested that he will not be joining any of the already existing national parties in his pursuit of the presidency, stressing on the need for his Mt Kenya East region to come up with its own outfit.
"We should have a stand and stop getting lifts from parties that belong to other people; we must build our own vehicle,” the Ex-Siakago MP said at the St Michael Catholic Church in Kiangungi.
But the interesting part is that he seems to be addressing the same things being addressed by tycoon Jimmy Wanjigi, who has also been stressing on the need for the old guard to stand down in 2022.
He has been using his own party (ODM) leader Raila Odinga as an example and while speaking in Kisumu on Sunday, blamed the same camp for the country's problems, saying it is time for fresh leadership.
"I want to appeal to youths in the region that you have the key to economic revolution in this country. Make good use of the opportunity to elect new leaders with fresh ideologies," said the presidential aspirant.
It gets even more suspicious with consideration that Muturi even criticized the recent happening in Migori, when residents pelted Wanjigi's cars with stones. He is the only top leader who has done that.
He termed it an immature decision by those who did it, especially at this age, saying that such was an attempt to intimidate Wanjigi and adding that personally he cannot be intimidated.
