The constitution has spelt out some privileges that a presidential candidate should enjoy. Once IEBC confirms a candidate, he or she automatically qualifies for police protection. The protection includes: personal bodyguards, home security and at least one police chase car.

IEBC has confirmed four candidates who will take part in 2022 general elections. They include; Raila Odinga, William Ruto, David Wahiga and George Wajackoyah. David Wahiga has now come out strongly to accuse police boss Mutyambai of not following the law. He cites preferential treatment to some of presidential candidates.

The Agano Party Leader bemoans that he and Wajackoyah are yet to be given any police protection. He wonders why it is such when William Ruto and Raila Odinga continue to enjoy police protection. The duo though had police protection prior to being confirmed as presidential candidates. This owes to Raila being former prime minister and William Ruto being the sitting deputy president.
