The public Service Commission, has been accused of shortlisting individuals who did not apply for the positions of the Chief Administrative Secretary position.

This comes just weeks after the commision released a list of individuals who were shortlisted for the position with majority being politicians whose various bids failed or those who shelved their ambitions in favour of others. The list also comprised of former governors who had served their maximum terms.

Speaking in an Exclusive Interviews with a local Television channel on Tuesday 7th March 2023, Rarieda constituency member of Parliament Hon Dr Otiende Amolo claimed that a number of individuals who did not apply for the positions were shortlisted and their names got published. The Orange Democratic Movement party member of Parliament further claimed that at the same time, there were individuals who were shortlisted but names were removed and they were never published.

The lawmaker claimed that as a long time member of Parliament, he has individuals within the government acting as his whistleblowers who inform him about everything.

The member of Parliament further alleged that the Public Service Commission has been privatised and no longer works independently adding that currently, they are able to predict who will occupy a vacant position in government.

"For any vacancy that will be announced by the PSV, we know whose name will be proposed before it is brought to parliament. There are names of people shortlisted for the CAS positions who never applied." The Rarieda lawmaker claimed.

He even alleged that during the recruitment of the solicitor General, the Public Service Commission could not give them its report a clear indication that external forces influenced the appointment.

He asked the Public Service Commission to regain its independence and serve Kenyans without external influence by the Executive. He explained that the commission should not be comprised as it is a public institution which must remain neutral.
