Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, is among the high ranking politicians who got a chance to address the mammoth at Kitale.
The former vice president came to Raila's defense after reports emerged that some Ruto allies are advising foreign countries to impose sanctions on him including travel bans. This is due to Odinga's call for mass action if the cost of living won't be brought down within 14 days.
Kalonzo noted that freedom to demonstrate is enshrined in the Kenyan constitution adding that Odinga has not broken any law. He recognized Raila as a defender of democracy.
However, towards the end of his speech, an altercation arouse between him and the youth who were chanting from the crowd demanding to be addressed by Babu Owino.
The Wiper leader tried to cool the chants but instead, they grew even louder. This rattled the politician who went ahead to warn the youth asking them to be disciplined. Instead of inviting Owino, Kalonzo went ahead to welcome Eugene Wamalwa to make his remarks, contrary to the demands of the crowd.
"You have to listen first. Babu Owino will have his time to speak. Let's maintain discipline first. You must be disciplined. I welcome former defense CS Eugene Wamalwa to make his remarks," noted Kalonzo. (Watch video from 1hr 23min).
The youth had no option than to tone down their chants. A state of calmness was reclaimed and the crowd went ahead to listen to Wamalwa.
